Nazneen H. Syed
I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2001 with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and Cellular & Molecular Biology, as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Legal Studies. Fascinated with arbitration and mediation and its utilization in litigation, I went on to pursue my Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution at the University of Massachusetts Boston from 2001 to 2003. I then attained a position in the civil litigation firm of Cianciulli & Ouellette, P.C. located just north of Boston, Massachusetts. There, I spent two years learning the basics of law and civil procedure, as well as being mentored about general private practice and procedure.
In the fall of 2005, I was accepted to the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and made the big move from Boston, Massachusetts to Lansing, Michigan. I obtained my Juris Doctorate in September of 2008 with a concentration in litigation. While in Law School I served as the Managing Editor of the Journal of Practical and Clinical Law for one year. I also interned for the Washtenaw County Public Defender's Office where I served as House Counsel at the Ypsilanti District Court with Judge J. Cedric Simpson. In the summer of 2009, I received my license to practice law and started my own practice. The focus of my practice was in criminal and civil defense, as well as plaintiff's side creditor-debtor and landlord-tenant litigation. From this experience, I found that many of my clients had a common need in the area of finance and asset protection. I also found that my passion for practicing law was in building and maintaining client relationships. It was then that I decided to shift my practice towards tax, business, and estate planning.
In November of 2009, I joined Shea, Aiello, Doxsie & Petz, PLLC as an associate estate and business planning attorney. I work closely with the manager of the business planning division, Rachel Doxsie, on several complex estate and business planning needs. I am a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Bar Association, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, and Probate & Estate Law Section.
I reside in Okemos, Michigan with my husband.
